Klown - the most talked about Danish comedy of the year!

"KLOWN mines the same excruciatingly awkward turf as Larry David and Ricky Gervais, but takes it much, much further."

KLOWN
Directed by Mikkel Nørgaard

“Raunchy, fearless and awesome.” – Eric Kohn, indieWIRE

“Hands down the funniest film of the year! …Plays like a superior, and way grosser, version of The Hangover.” – Aaron Hillis, The Village Voice

**WINNER: FANTASTIC FEST 2011 – Best Comedy Film**
**WINNER: FANTASIA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL 2011 – Best Film**
**OFFICIAL SELECTION: SEATTLE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL 2012**

Produced by Lars Von Trier's production company, Zentropa, KLOWN follows two wildly inappropriate friends — played by celebrated international comedians Frank Hvam and Casper Christensen — as they run amok through the Danish countryside. Frank and Casper plan to canoe down the Danish countryside on a testosterone driven weekend in search of women, debauchery, and more women.  However, their adulterous adventure is hampered when Frank's girlfriend reveals she is pregnant and believes he is not suited to be a father.  Determined to prove her wrong, Frank kidnaps his 12-year-old nephew to exemplify his readiness for fatherhood.  Yet Casper will not let their highly anticipated weekend be ruined by a child, forcing Frank to take Bo along for the wildly inappropriate ride.

KLOWN will open in theaters and on VOD platforms simultaneously on theaters July 27th, 2012. Warner Bros has recently acquired the rights to remake the film, with Danny McBride set to write and star.

TED

Your mother would not approve.

When Johnny Bennett was little, he wished his Teddy Bear could be real, so that he would have a best friend forever. 27 years later, they’re still “thunder-buddies for life!” John (Mark Wahlberg) lives with the woman of his dreams, Lori (Mila Kunis) and his living teddy bear Ted (Seth MacFarlane).

The thunder buddies do everything together, smoke pot, watch Flash Gordon on TV, and drink. Ted had his time of celebrity as being the world’s only living teddy bear and the limelight and like most celebrities of the 80’s has fallen into obscurity in Boston. Lori wants John to grow up a little and take their four year relationship more serious, which means Ted needs to move out. How does a woman make a man chose between his best friend and girlfriend?

Ok seriously, you’re coming to watch this movie because you want to see a teddy bear swear, drink, smoke pot, and get it on with women. It’s the same Family Guy humor you either love or hate. The movie makes no sense, but it is funny nearly the entire time. Notice I said “nearly?” The scenes without Ted are rather slow and boring. Ted even manages to acquire a creepy stalker. How does a toy with no lungs get high, no stomach get drunk, and no…um… well… get with women?

Like a lot of movies out, this movie panders to the 80’s crowd again. Really? Speaking as someone who lived through them, the 80’s weren’t as great as the movies are trying to portray them. So, If you like the Family Guy cartoons and want to see a teddy bear act like your loser uncle/cousin/brother, go out and get yourself a ticket. Otherwise, wait until it hits video. It is funny enough to sit through.

Disney & Pixar get 'Brave' and push the bar a little further.

You’ve come to know your Disney Princess movies. Young headstrong girl gets herself into trouble, meets a prince, falls in love, engages the villain, prince rescues her, curse is broken, true-love wins out, and They All Live Happily Ever After, right? Well forget that stuff!
In Brave, Princess Merida is still the headstrong daughter of a Scottish King. She’s just found out that she has to choose a husband from one of the three clans and she’s not happy about it. Her mother, the Queen is always on her about how to be a proper princess and what her responsibilities are and Merida hates it.  Sound familiar to any of you moms and daughters out there? So she finds a loophole in the tradition of her people and brings her people to the brink of war just to defy her mother.

She wants to change her fate, and with the help of a strange woman in the woods, she does just that, just not in the way she was expecting. Disney has done a pretty good job keeping the plot under wraps, but I’m sure if anyone’s been paying attention to the trailers and merchandise on the store shelves you have a hint on what “Changing her mother and her fate,” Merida accidentally on purpose causes.

This movie is a keeper, but be warned. There are a few scenes in which a bear fight might get a little tense for your kids. My 4 year olds were a “little scared” of the bear. Disney breaks tradition of their own by not establishing a prince in this one. There’s also no real nefarious villain. The main story revolves around Merida and her mother restoring their bond. Watch for another comical first as Disney shows some cartoon nudity. Before you get all offended, it’s mild and works for the scenes in a hilarious way.

So, Prince-less Princess, no villain acting on evil purposes, cartoon nudity, and a little dark scenery and you have the new Disney Princess. Disney has already put a lot of effort into Merida being a success with establishing a Meet and Greet encounter in the Magic Kingdom weeks before the movie even released. I think it will get a positive reception. I watched a lot of mother-daughter knowing smiles and bonding on the way out of the theater.

So go take a look, and let the kids know a head of time that there may be some scary parts.

THAT'S MY BOY

That’s my boy, also known as “one of the typical Adam Sandler movies.”

A few things in life are constant. You will have traffic when you are late, you will always meet someone important after you spill something on your pants, and Adam Sandler movies will be all alike. “That’s my boy” is no different for the perpetually trapped in the 80’s Sandler.

Sandler movies consist of: 80’s soundtrack, awkward main character that gets made fun of by others, Sandler acting with a goofy voice from back when he was a comedian, Sandler with silly hair, strangely endearing old woman who says and does inappropriate things, and what I like to call the Sandler gross out.

The Sandler “gross out” is some sort of movie madness that attempts to make you cringe because of the awkwardness, grossness, or surprising character behavior. This movie will make you laugh because of the train wreck effect. You want to see what craziness will happen next, but it really has nothing to do with the plot.

Donny (Adam Sandler) was a grade school kid who was seduced and exposed by his grade school teacher who gets pregnant before she goes to prison shooting Donny into the infamous tabloid spotlight. Todd (Andy Samberg) is his son, who changed his name from Han Solo to start life anew after not so awesome father figure, Donny, dropped out of his life. Donny needs money or he goes to prison for not paying income taxes. Todd is now a well-to-do broker getting married, and succeeding in life. So Donny shows up on the doorstep winning over the soon-to-be family and creating discomfort to the son he’s trying to get money from.

Silliness, gross deeds, inappropriate behavior, unbelievable plot turns, cameos from people whom have fallen out of the limelight, drinking, nudity, and WTF moments. Yep, it’s a typical Adam Sandler movie. Attempt to heartwarming ending ruined by odd character portrayal and we’re done. If you like Sandler movies, this will be your cup of tea. If you don’t get him, you won’t like it. You will laugh at the odd behavior and “oh crap!” moments, but once you’ve seen it…. You can check it off the list and let it blend into your past.

Madagascar 3 - Europe's Most Wanted

I’d be “Lion” if I told you it was bad.

Usually by the time a “kids” movie hits the triquel (sequel + 1) level you don’t expect too much out of it. Studios sometimes send them straight to video. Well throw that thinking away! (At least for Madagascar).

They’re all back. Alex (Ben Stiller), Marty (Chris Rock), Gloria (Jada Pinkett Smith), Melman (David Schwimmer), the Penguins, King Julien, the Chimps, and it’s another crazy ride. The penguins and chimps left to get help and gamble at Monte Carlo and Alex is getting tired of waiting for their return to save them from Madagascar and take them back to their zoo in New York. That leaves only one thing to do, get back on their own.

The zoo crew shows up in Monte Carlo where they stir up some trouble and get a predatory animal control officer, Captain Chantel DuBois, on their tails. Pretending to be circus animals, they escape on a circus train. The plan is to travel to London, perform for an American talent agent, and head back to New York. There are only a few hitches. The circus performs poorly, Captain Dubois will not give up the hunt, and they need an act.

This movie made kids squeal with laughter, adults chuckle out loud, and had music and quotes that stuck with you for the rest of the day. You’re kids will love the movie, even if they haven’t seen the first two movies. You may be surprised if after the movie you feel the urge to buy a rainbow afro wig. Grab the kids and go have some fun.
