St. Augustine, Fla. (June 25, 2008) – The World Golf Hall of Fame IMAX Theater will begin selling tickets to its special engagement of Warner Bros. Pictures’ “The Dark Knight” beginning Thursday, July 3 at 12:01 a.m. in advance of the film’s nationwide release set for July 18. The public can purchase advance tickets on-line at www.wgv.com or at the World Golf Hall of Fame box office.
“The Dark Knight” reunites director Christopher Nolan with star Christian Bale, who returns to continue Batman's war on crime. With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman) and District Attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart), Batman sets out to destroy organized crime in Gotham for good. The triumvirate proves to be effective, but they soon find themselves prey to a rising criminal mastermind known as the Joker (Heath Ledger), who thrusts Gotham into anarchy and forces the Dark Knight ever closer to crossing the fine line between hero and vigilante.
“The World Golf Hall of Fame IMAX Theater is eagerly anticipating the opening of ‘The Dark Knight,’ the follow-up film to ‘Batman Begins,’ which will most likely be the event movie of Summer 2008,” said Jack Peter, Sr. Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the World Golf Hall of Fame & IMAX Theater. “In addition to our traditional IMAX films, this feature film will lend additional excitement to our offerings and make for quite the experience for moviegoers as they see the vivid characters and story on the largest screen in Northeast Florida.”
“The Dark Knight” will feature six sequences filmed with IMAX cameras (including the opening six minutes), which marks the first time ever that a major feature film has been even partially shot using IMAX cameras – a revolutionary integration of 35 mm and IMAX film formats.
“The Dark Knight” runs approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes and has been rated PG-13 for intense sequences of violence and some menace.
