Relativity and Hasbro Team Up to Bring Stretch Armstrong to the Big Screen

Targeted for April 11, 2014 Release
(Beverly Hills, Calif.) – Relativity Media has partnered with global branded play company Hasbro, Inc. [NASDAQ-HAS] to develop and produce a live-action tent-pole film based on Stretch Armstrong, the iconic action hero figure launched in the 1970s, it was announced today by Relativity’s Co-President, Tucker Tooley and Hasbro’s President and CEO, Brian Goldner.

Relativity will be the domestic distributor and will release the film internationally through its network of foreign output partners. The film is targeted for an April 11, 2014 release date.

The film will be produced by Relativity’s CEO, Ryan Kavanaugh (The Fighter), Hasbro’s Goldner (Transformers) and Bennett Schneir, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, Motion Pictures (Battleship). Tooley (Immortals) will serve as executive producer.

Hasbro has become an entertainment powerhouse by creating hit movies and television shows from its rich portfolio of world class brands. Since 2007, Hasbro's Transformers and G.I. Joe franchises have grossed nearly $3 billion at the worldwide box office. 2012 is shaping up to be another stellar year for Hasbro with its partners Universal Pictures releasing Battleship in April and Paramount Pictures releasing G.I. Joe: Retaliation in June. In television, Hasbro Studios produces shows like Transformers Prime and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic that can be seen on the HUB television network in the U.S. and in more than 140 countries globally.

“We are absolutely thrilled to partner with Hasbro, a company whose global reach and ability to innovate has made them immensely successful in the arena of brand re-imagination-- as evidenced by their legacy of creating such franchises as Transformers and G.I. Joe,” said Tooley, “We look forward to bringing Stretch Armstrong to audiences worldwide.”

“Stretch Armstrong is a great example of Hasbro’s rich portfolio of intellectual properties that we are continuing to develop globally,” said Goldner, “We are excited to partner with Relativity on this movie as they are a growing and innovative studio.”

Stretch Armstrong is the classic action hero figure first launched by Hasbro in 1976 and re-launched in the 90’s, sold successfully throughout North America and in markets across the world. The original Stretch's unique design broke free of traditional action figures, as he could be stretched over and over and always returned back to his original size. The nostalgic toy is considered to be rare and collectible to this day.

Relativity recently released Oscar®-winner Steven Soderbergh’s dynamic action-thriller Haywire in theatres. Looking ahead, Relativity will release the the heart-pounding Navy SEAL action-thriller Act of Valor (in theatres February 24, 2012) and magical adventure comedy Mirror Mirror (in theatres March 30, 2012), starring Oscar®-winner Julia Roberts, Lily Collins, Nathan Lane and Armie Hammer. The studio just wrapped production on the comedy 21 and Over and is currently in pre-production on Nicholas Sparks’ gripping love story Safe Haven and the international espionage thriller Hunter Killer.

The Chemical Brothers: "Don't Think" 2/1 ONE-NIGHT ONLY in-theater concert event

"'Don't Think' jolts you from the cinema deep into the violently psychedelic heart of a Japanese rave. This, like the Chemical Brothers' best work, is a neckbracing tour de force to behold. Scary, sublime, trippy, exhilarating. Don't think, just swoon." Rolling Stone

"A feast for the mind"  IFC

“..One of the best films about dance music ever made.”   The Guardian

“An astonishing, celluloid rush of blood to the head.”  The Sunday Telegraph

Last night the global premiere of The Chemical Brothers; Don’t Thinkdirected by Adam Smith, took place in 25 cities across the globe. The verdict from the 4000 dedicated fans lucky enough to have secured a ticket was unanimous: It was a one of a kind movie theatre experience clearly not to be missed! The premiere in London saw exuberant fans, including Keira Knightley as well as The Chemical Brothers and Adam Smith, dancing* in the aisles and applauding along with the Fuji crowd, a reaction mirrored in cities across the world from Auckland, New York to Buenos Aires.

Don’t Think has clearly redefined the cinematic experience, an art form which The Chemical Brothers are evidently immersed and well-versed in, as only two weeks ago, Tom Rowlands picked up the L.A film critics awards for best score for The Chemical Brothers work on Hanna.

For those that weren’t successful in securing a ticket to these sell out premieres, The Chemical Brothers will bring their in-theatre concert event, The Chemical Brothers: Don’t Think to more than 200 select movie theatres across the U.S. FOR ONLY ONE NIGHT on Wednesday February 1, 2012. Tickets for this critically lauded and utterly jaw dropping event are available at participating theatre box offices and online at:

BRUCE LEE Doc Film/Feb 9th & 11th/Jacksonville

On Thursday, February 9th and Wednesday, February 15th the new feature length documentary film, I Am Bruce Lee, will be released exclusively in 150 theaters in 60+ cities across the U.S.

Bruce Lee was born in the Year of the Dragon, his stage name was “Little Dragon”, and his most famous film was “Enter the Dragon”, so it’s only appropriate that his return to the big screen debuts as Chinese New Year begins - 2012 is The Year of the Dragon.

I Am Bruce Lee tells the amazing story of one of the most iconic human beings ever to enter the public consciousness. Voted as one of the most important people of the 20th century in Time Magazine’s Time 100, as well as one of the Greatest Pop Culture Icons by People Magazine, Bruce Lee continues to be honored and remembered for his enduring legacy.

The documentary is produced by award-winning studio Network Entertainment, the producers of 2010’s Academy Award shortlisted documentary Facing Ali, and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Pete McCormack.

I Am Bruce Lee is the first documentary to truly tell Bruce Lee’s story in his own words and actions, as well as through the eyes of a diverse cast of international stars from the worlds of film, television, music and sports.

The film’s original interviews feature a broad spectrum of worldwide stars, including UFC President Dana White who calls Lee the “Father of Mixed Martial Arts,” NBA superstar Kobe Bryant, boxing champions Manny Pacquiao and Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini, UFC stars Jon Jones, Cung Le, Stephan Bonnar and Gina Carano, actor and star of the hit show ‘Modern Family’ Ed O’Neill, Academy Award Nominated actor Mickey Rourke, the Black Eye Peas’ Taboo, Bruce Lee’s daughter Shannon Lee and his wife Linda Lee Cadwell, among many others.

I Am Bruce Lee presents a rich cinematic view of the life of Bruce Lee, and features the best of Bruce Lee’s groundbreaking martial arts action films, punctuated with an evocative score and rarely seen archival footage. Working with Bruce’s daughter Shannon Lee, the film features previously unseen home movies and interviews, classic photos and dynamic visuals and graphics. “My family and I are so proud of this film, which truly portrays the legacy of my father and his incredible story,” says executive producer Shannon Lee.
“Our goal was to bring Bruce Lee and his dynamic personality to life in a way never experienced before, and we were able to achieve this with amazing content and our dynamic cast. You will laugh, you will cry, and you will walk out of the theater inspired by the spirit of the remarkable Bruce Lee,” commented producer Derik Murray.

To support the screening events, there will be a robust on-line campaign with multiple opportunities to connect via Facebook, Twitter and other online platforms.

The documentary is being distributed for the screening events by D&E Entertainment, a company specializing in alternative theatrical programming.  *Cities and theaters listed below.
