Horrible Bosses’ Jason Bateman and Bridesmaids’ Melissa McCarthy lead the cast of Identity Thief, an all-star comedy in which a regular guy is forced to extreme measures to clear his name. With everything to lose after his identity is stolen, he’ll find out how crazed you can get trying to settle a bad credit score.
Unlimited funds have allowed Diana (McCarthy) to live it up on the outskirts of Miami, where the queen of retail buys whatever strikes her fancy. There’s only one glitch: The ID she’s using to finance these sprees reads “Sandy Bigelow Patterson”… and it belongs to an accounts rep (Bateman) who lives halfway across the U.S.
With only one week to hunt down the con artist before his world implodes, the real Sandy Bigelow Patterson heads south to confront the woman with an all-access pass to his life. And as he attempts to bribe, coax and wrangle her the 2,000 miles to Denver, one easy target will discover just how tough it is to get your name back.
Directed by Horrible Bosses’ Seth Gordon, Identity Thief is produced by Scott Stuber (Ted), Bateman and Pamela Abdy (upcoming 47 Ronin). The comedy co-stars Jon Favreau, Amanda Peet, Tip “T.I.” Harris, Genesis Rodriguez, Morris Chestnut, John Cho, Robert Patrick and Eric Stonestreet.
Robert Diggs, aka The RZA (Blacksmith/Directed
by/Story by/Screenplay by/Music by), is a man of many aliases and even
more talents. He is the heart, soul and brains behind rap’s only true
multiplatinum super group, the Wu-Tang Clan. RZA is a man who appreciates
the creation of music and the success he has had within the music industry, and
he thrives on the process of creation, which he has carried over into his
acting and scoring career. For as long as he can remember, RZA wanted to
be a part of the moviemaking process and was inspired while watching one of his
favorite kung fu flicks.
In 1999, RZA got the first taste of living his dream.
Director Jim Jarmusch asked RZA to score Ghost Dog: The Way of the
Samurai, a modern samurai film, and offered him a cameo in the film, which
helped bring him to where he is today. As an actor, RZA has shown real
range from his hilarious stints on Chappelle’s Show to the
Jarmusch film Coffee and Cigarettes. RZA next starred in the
drama Derailed, alongside Clive Owen, and, most recently, Ridley
Scott’s American Gangster, for which the cast garnered a Screen
Actors Guild Award nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion
Picture.
In 2009, he was seen in the independent features Life
Is Hot in Cracktown and Gospel Hill, and Universal
Pictures’ Repo Men, starring Jude Law and Forest Whitaker, and Funny
People, starring Adam Sandler and Seth Rogen.
The following year, RZA was seen in Due Date, The
Next Three Days and A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas.
This year, RZA appeared as Samurai Apocalypse in Showtime’s series Californication.
In 2003, RZA scored Kill Bill Vol. 1 for
Quentin Tarantino, for which he received a BAFTA nomination. In 2004, he
contributed music to Barbershop 2: Back in Business, Soul Plane, Kill
Bill Vol. 2 and Blade: Trinity. In 2007, RZA scored
the critically acclaimed Spike TV animated series Afro Samurai and,
in 2008, Afro Samurai: Resurrection, which starred Samuel
Jackson. That same year, he also contributed to the score of the 20thCentury
Fox film Babylon A.D., which starred Vin Diesel.
RZA continues to make strides within an industry that
captured his attention

Disney began production today on “Saving Mr. Banks,” the
account of Walt Disney’s twenty-year pursuit of the film rights to P.L.
Travers’ popular novel, Mary Poppins, and the testy partnership the upbeat
filmmaker develops with the uptight author during the project’s pre-production
in 1961.
Two-time Academy Award®-winner Tom Hanks (“Philadelphia,” “Forrest Gump”) will
essay the role of the legendary Disney (the first time the entrepreneur has
ever been depicted in a dramatic film) alongside fellow double Oscar®-winner
Emma Thompson (“Howard’s End,” “Sense and Sensibility”) in the role of the
prickly novelist. Before actually signing away the book’s rights,
Travers’ demands for contractual script and character control circumvent not
only Disney’s vision for the film adaptation, but also those of the creative team
of screenwriter Don DaGradi and sibling composers Richard and Robert Sherman,
whose original score and song (Chim-Chim-Cher-ee) would go on to win
Oscars® at the 1965 ceremonies (the film won five awards of its thirteen
nominations).
When Travers travels from London to Hollywood in 1961 to finally discuss
Disney’s desire to bring her beloved character to the motion picture screen (a
quest he began in the 1940s as a promise to his two daughters), Disney meets a
prim, uncompromising sexagenarian not only suspect of the impresario’s concept
for the film, but a woman struggling with her own past. During her stay
in California, Travers’ reflects back on her childhood in 1906 Australia, a
trying time for her family which not only molded her aspirations to write, but
one that also inspired the characters in her 1934 book.
None more so than the one person whom she loved and admired more than any
other—her caring father, Travers Goff, a tormented banker who, before his
untimely death that same year, instills the youngster with both affection and
enlightenment (and would be the muse for the story’s patriarch, Mr. Banks, the
sole character that the famous nanny comes to aide). While reluctant to
grant Disney the film rights, Travers comes to realize that the acclaimed
Hollywood storyteller has his own motives for wanting to make the film—which,
like the author, hints at the relationship he shared with his own father in the
early 20th Century Midwest.
Colin Farrell (“Minority Report,” “Total Recall”) co-stars as Travers’ doting
dad, Goff, along with British actress Ruth Wilson (the forthcoming films “The
Lone Ranger” and “Anna Karenina”) as his long-suffering wife, Margaret; Oscar® and
Emmy® nominee Rachel Griffiths (“Six Feet Under,” “Hilary and Jackie,” “The
Rookie”) as Margaret’s sister, Aunt Ellie (who inspired the title character of
Travers’ novel); and a screen newcomer—11-year-old Aussie native Annie Buckley
as the young, blossoming writer, nicknamed “Ginty” in the flashback sequences.
The cast also includes Emmy® winner Bradley Whitford (“The West Wing,” “The
Cabin in the Woods”) as screenwriter Don DaGradi; Jason Schwartzman
(“Rushmore,” “Moonrise Kingdom”) and B.J. Novak (“NBC’s “The Office,”
“Inglourious Basterds”) as the songwriting Sherman Brothers (Richard and
Robert, respectively); Oscar® nominee and Emmy winner Paul Giamatti
(“Sideways,” “Cinderella Man,” HBO’s “John Adams”) as Ralph, the kindly
limousine driver who escorts Travers during her two-week stay in Hollywood; and
multi-Emmy winner Kathy Baker (“Picket Fences,” “Edward Scissorhands”) as
Tommie, one of Disney’s trusted studio associates.
“Saving Mr. Banks” will be directed by John Lee Hancock (“The Blind Side,” “The
Rookie”) based on a screenplay by Kelly Marcel (creator of FOX-TV’s “Terra
Nova”), from a story by Sue Smith (“Brides of Christ,” “Bastard Boys”) and
Kelly Marcel. The film is being produced by Alison Owen of Ruby Films
(the Oscar®-nominated “Elizabeth,” HBO’s Emmy®-winning “Temple Grandin”), Ian
Collie of Essential Media (the Aussie TV documentary “The Shadow of Mary
Poppins,” DirecTV’s “Rake”) and longtime Hancock collaborator Philip
Steuer (“The Rookie,” “The Chronicles of Narnia” trilogy). The film’s
executive producers are Ruby Films’ Paul Trijbits (“Lay the Favorite,” “Jane
Eyre”), Hopscotch Features’ Andrew Mason (“The Matrix” trilogy, “Dark City”)
and Troy Lum (“Mao’s Last Dancer,” “I, Frankenstein”) and BBC Films’ Christine
Langan (Oscar® nominee for “The Queen,” “We Need to Talk About Kevin”).
Hancock’s filmmaking team includes a trio of artists with whom he worked on his
2009 Best Picture Oscar® nominee, “The Blind Side”—two-time Oscar® nominated
production designer Michael Corenblith (“How The Grinch Stole Christmas,”
“Apollo 13”), Emmy®-winning costume designer Daniel Orlandi (HBO’s “Game
Change,” “Frost/Nixon”) and film editor Mark Livolsi, A.C.E. (“Wedding
Crashers” “The Devil Wears Prada”). Hancock also reunites with Academy
Award®-nominated cinematographer John Schwartzman (“Seabiscuit,” “Pearl
Harbor”), with whom he first worked on his inspiring 2002 sports drama, “The
Rookie.”
“Saving Mr. Banks” will film entirely in the Los Angeles area, with key
locations to include Disneyland in Anaheim and the Disney Studios in
Burbank. Filming will conclude around Thanksgiving, 2012, with no
specific 2013 release date yet set.

ABOUT THE NYC FOOD FILM FESTIVAL
Returning to New York City for its 6th consecutive year offering a unique
series of events where food and film lovers return to taste what they
see on the screen, the NYC Food Film Festival is the only festival in the
world that serves the food that is seen in the films. Produced in association
with the James Beard Foundation and benefiting the Food Bank For New York City,
the 2012 NYC Food Film Festival runs from October 17 through October 21 in
Manhattan and Brooklyn. The NYC Food Film Festival has grown from an intimate
food-nerd date-night destination to one of New York City’s most beloved
festivals, and the largest of its kind in the world. Last year, the Food Film
Festival made its 2nd trip to Chicago, where it will return this year from
November 15th – 17th for the Chicago Food Film
Festival. The NYC Food Film Festival was created by George Motz, the
documentary filmmaker behind the award-winning Hamburger America film, book,
and mobile app, and host of Travel Channel's Burger Land, along
with Harry Hawk. Through documentaries, features and short films, the Festival
presents the best, and the most memorable, of the world’s favorite and exotic
foods on the big screen...and then serves them to the guests. The NYC Food Film
Festival is co-produced by Grease Bomb LLC and Food Films America.
For the first time ever, the famous horror story
with
social and political overtones comes to the big screen
The name
Rudyard Kipling has long been connected to a little jungle boy, dancing apes and
a big blue bear... But, those unaware of his writings beyond Jungle Book
might be surprised to learn that he wrote several horror stories over the
course of his life. One of his most popular was Mark of the Beast,
and Bloodbath Pictures and Hale Manor have brought this tale to life and it's
available on DVD this October 23rd via MVD Enterttainment Group.
Starring
Debbie Rochon, Dick Boland, Ellen Muth and a host of Bloodbath regulars, like
Phil Hall, Sheri Lynn, Matt Ford and Margaret Rose Champagne, Mark of the
Beast is a departure from Bloodbath's previous films (Bikini Bloodbath series)
as it is played largely straight.
The movie
follows two people (Rochon and Boland) as they try to deal with saving a
friend (Hall) who after defacing a religious shrine becomes cursed by the
silver leper who lives in the forest that surrounds their homes. Their fight
to survive becomes a life and death struggle for all involved, including the
faceless silver leper, and the lengths at which they go to save their friend
will not be without its repercussions.
With
fantastic creature design and an outstanding, bombastic score, Rudyard
Kipling's Mark of the Beast is Bloodbath's most inspired
effort to date. Adapted for the screen by Thomas Edward Seymour (who also
directed with Jonathan Gorman) and Sheri Lynn, Mark of the Beast effectively
combines 70s-style horror with deep-running religious, political and moral
themes.
Universal Pictures announced today that it will release Pitch
Perfect in select theaters across North America on Friday,
September 28, 2012—one week earlier than expected. This early release of
the new movie from Gold Circle Films and Universal Pictures will precede the
musical comedy’s wide release, which continues as previously scheduled on
October 5.
The decision to open the film in select theaters early
resulted from a number of factors, led by the wildly positive moviegoer
feedback for Pitch Perfect from early screenings and
indicators of a very engaged core audience avidly anticipating its
release. Universal is promoting Pitch Perfect with the
most extensive screening campaign in the studio’s history. Over the past
few weeks, hundreds of screenings of Pitch Perfect across the
country have consistently received raucous audience response.
Those screenings have also created regular spikes in
social-media conversation that far outpace similar films at the same
stage. Fizziology, the leading social-network monitoring company, notes
that the sentiment for Pitch Perfect in social media conversation
is more than 90 percent positive. Just last week, following the airing of
a single television ad for the film in the mid-season finale of ABC Family’s Pretty
Little Liars, three separate topics related to Pitch
Perfect became trending topics on Twitter: the film itself, the
character of “Fat Amy” and the song “No Diggity” that was featured in the
spot.
Universal hopes to further galvanize the growing positive
buzz for the film with this early release strategy, giving early audiences of
core fans the opportunity to accelerate the velocity and expand the reach of
the word-of-mouth for Pitch Perfect after they see it starting
on September 28.
“You have to be willing to break the rules for a film that
you deeply love, and supporting Pitch Perfect in this
unorthodox way is a result of our passion for the movie and confidence in its
reception,” said Nikki Rocco, President of Distribution, Universal
Pictures. “After every screening, we’ve seen levels of reaction similar
to how audiences responded to American Pie and Bring
It On, other comedies for a young audience that grew into great success
stories for Universal.”
“The social conversation surrounding Pitch Perfect on
Twitter, Facebook and blogs has been loud and incredibly positive,” said Ben
Carlson, President, Fizziology. “We have measured these types of metrics
around every major movie in the last three years, and this film is one of the
strongest comedies that we’ve seen this far ahead of release.”
To encourage fans to grab their friends and see Pitch
Perfect, Universal has teamed with Fandango and MovieTickets.com on
exclusive offers for the early screenings. Those who buy three or more
tickets on Fandango to any showing of the musical comedy will receive one
additional ticket to the same showing at no charge. As well, those who
purchase tickets at MovieTickets.com will get $5.00 off their purchase of two
or more tickets to the show. For more information about the promotions

About Pitch Perfect
Beca (Anna Kendrick) is that girl who’d rather listen to
what’s coming out of her headphones than what’s coming out of anyone’s
mouth. Arriving at Barden University, she finds herself not right for any
clique but somehow is muscled into one that she would never have picked on her
own: alongside mean girls, sweet girls and weird girls whose only thing in
common is how good they sound when they sing together, in the new out-loud
comedy Pitch Perfect.
When Beca takes this acoustic singing group out of their
world of traditional arrangements and perfect harmonies into all-new mash-ups,
they fight to climb their way to the top of the cutthroat world of college
music competitions. This could wind up either the coolest thing they’ll
ever do or the most insane, and it will probably be a little of both.
Loaded with new takes on old favorites, to hits of right now
that are seamlessly mixed together, mashed-up and arranged like you’ve never
heard before, Pitch Perfect is directed by Jason Moore, who
opened our eyes to the very misbehaved life of puppets in the surprise Broadway
sensation Avenue Q. www.pitchperfectmovie.com

First off, don’t even think of comparing the new Len Wiseman
Total Recall to the Paul Verhoeven Total Recall of 1990. The plot is different,
the setting is different, and the idea is about the only thing that’s the same.
There’s no Mars, No aliens, no mutants, not dome. No Arnie saying “Get your ass
to Mars.” No Kuato, and no mining. Purge all of that for this movie. Let me
know when you’re ready.
Douglas Quaid (Colin Farrell) is a factory worker
living in The Colony, an overcrowded, run down, slum that used to be Australia.
90% of the world is now wasteland, uninhabitable, and destroyed by war,
pollution, and all sorts of bad human deeds. Quaid’s wife Lori (Kate
Beckinsale) is an emergency responder. On the other side of the world in what
used to be England, the richer, better off live and in order commute back and
forth, from the Colony to the United Federation of Britain (UFB) one must
travel through the center of the earth on a shuttle like system called “The
Fall.”
Quaid keeps having unexplained dreams and he wants something
to make them go away. Maybe a chemically induced memory from the company Recall
will do the trick. Quaid finds out the world in which he lives isn’t as it
seems and that Melina (Jessica Biel) is not just a woman from his dreams. In
fact he is a lot closer to the Rebellion between Cohaagen (Bryan Cranston) and
Matthias (Bill Nighy) than he thought.
Enough of the spoiler. Do not try to go into this movie
ready to compare it to the old one. Watch it as a standalone movie and be
pleasantly surprised when you see similarities on the screen to the old movie.
Graphically, this movie was very good. The synthetic robot sentries were very
cool and animated nicely. The background was chaotic and futuristic enough to
give you a great feel for the movie and the action is fast and furious. Very
similar to I, Robot.
It is a good movie to watch, just understand, it’s not the
movie from the 90’s. To answer that burning question in the back of your mind…
Yes…. The three breasted woman is in this one too!
By now, you know who Bruce Wayne is, Batman, Alfred,
Commissioner Gordon, etc. If you don’t, you may want to do a little background
before you venture in to the movie theater. While you’re at it… watch The Dark
Knight, you may need to refresh yourself. Yeah, watch Batman Begins too… more
reference material. Seriously… don’t watch “Rises” unless you’ve
seen the first two or the movie will make little sense.
I was surprised at how complex the plot was in this film,
and at times the movie drags a bit because keep in mind, Bruce Wayne (Christian
Bale) hasn’t been Batman for 8 years since the Harvey Dent thing in the second
movie. So we spend the first quarter of the movie introducing Bane (Tom Hardy)
as a one of the worse people in the world, though it’s not clear why and
Catwoman (Anne Hathaway) otherwise known as Selina Kyle, a girl with a large
criminal record who robs people. We also meet John Blake (Joseph Gordon-Levitt)
who is a streetwise cop who has figured out Wayne is, or rather was, Batman.
Bane comes to Gotham (tie in from first movie), Batman is
needed once more, but has cooler new toys now. Everyone is mixed on
whether this is good or bad because of the Harvey Dent thing (2nd movie)
and we have the flirting with Catwoman and Batman like we are all expecting.
Stop reading now if you think I’ve said too much. I had a
feeling that deep within this movie was some sort of society statement. The
rich should give back to the poor or they will rise up against you, the poor
hate the rich for having so much and not sharing, the police will always
protect you (even if trapped underground for 5 months) and even though you may
not like society…. It could be a lot worse.
All that being said, I thought it was a good movie. Bane is
a little hard to understand at times, talking through the mask and all.
Catwoman looked good and kicked butt. Overall was the movie a little
unbelievable and hard to believe… you bet, but after all… it is a comic book.
Fans cheered at certain points in the movie which I enjoyed thoroughly. Was it
better than Avengers? No. Was it better than Spiderman? A little. Is it worth
seeing? Definitely… but like I said… you need to see the first two.
